Here are some things that you can do to help orphans!
~Donate needed items to orphanages. These may be things you already have around the house - like some shirts for a 15 year old boy, or mittens, or toothbrushes. See a list of needed items HERE.
~Adopt! There are many children who need a loving home. Maybe one of them (or three) is yours!
~Support an adopting family. Adoption is expensive, and many families are in need of funds to complete their adoptions. Donate money to help them out, or give them an encouraging word, offer to do childcare or pet care while they are out of country, deliver meals, etc. Every kind action helps an adopting family!
~Volunteer. Find a way to volunteer in your area. Bethany Christian Services, CHSFS, Life2orphans, Love Without Boundries and Show Hope are some ideas to get you started. Also look at local children's homes, adoption agencies, and county programs.
~Become a CASA. A CASA is a court-appointed special advocate for children. You serve as a voice in court for a child who is in foster care.
"CASA volunteers get to know the child and speak to everyone involved in the child’s life, including their family members, teachers, doctors, lawyers, social workers, and others. The information they gather and their recommendations help the court make informed decisions. CASA volunteers commit to a child until the case is closed and the child is in a safe, permanent home." - http://www.becomeacasa.org/
~Go on a mission trip. Go with a local church or look here: Show Hope, Visiting Orphans, Orphan Outreach, or Every Orphan's Hope.
~Check out the organizations in the Orphan Care Resources page. There are many different organizations and you are sure to be able to find a way you can help!
